Lets get this show on the road! (or on the driveway at least...)

The only downside I can think of from my love of things, is the amount of stuff that accumulates within the short space of 18 months! (Especially if you manage to come down with a severe case of Trademe addiction during the winter hibernation months...)

I love my precious things but I have to move on, onwards to more new and pretty things!!

I really need to avoid sending a ton (literally) of stuff around the world again, and selling items on Trademe is no way near as exciting as buying...

A garage sale was the only answer!

I bravely sacrificed my only free weekend day to wake at 6.30am (I normally only see this time of day if I'm still partying, otherwise this is known as sparrow fart o'clock)

My ever-supportive sister and her very handy boyfriend also joined in the fun and next thing you know it's 6.30pm and we're all thoroughly exhausted, sunburnt and have a lot less stuff and a bit more dosh! YAY :)

Here's a photo of one of the first and favorite customers of the day before things got really crazy!

She had purchased my bike off Trademe and ended up with some sweet scores, plus after she went away, came back with a bunch of her friends too who also spent up large! All with a smile and no haggling!!

There was only one crazy lady who just wouldn't leave, and had the nastiest, sneaky haggling tricks up her sleeve, and probably a few of my bracelets too...

I wish I hadn't let her bully me in to holding on to a few items for her to come back and collect the next week!

At around 2.30 after a quiet period, we were getting a bit fed up to the extent where a fruju just didn't cut it and all we wanted was to jump in the sea... A funky dad and his kids came barreling up the driveway enthusiastically proclaiming that they LOVE garage sales!!

We had a great time showing the little boy how the stomp rocket worked and telling them the names of their new teddies. They had to come back with the car because they bought so much stuff!!

After finally deciding to call it a day, and packed the remains in the the car to go to the Sallies, and a cold shower and an even colder glass of wine, it was time to head to the Botanical Gardens to see what was on at the sound shell. But that's another post...

All in all, it was a long hard day but totally worth it and a lot of fun!

Wish me luck when the crazy lady comes back to collect her stuff tomorrow.

This love must go on...

This is it, my very first bloggy thing!

I sit exactly 4 weeks from my departure date to the other side of the world, again...

It will be the third time that I have gone through the process of selling / throwing out / packing down all my beloved belongings to relocate to point B which is about as far away from point A as possible on this earth.

Except that, this time there is a lot more selling and throwing outing going on as I will also be relocating my cat, and point B may well end up being "home" for the foreseeable future!

I have come to learn that moving half way around the world is a great exercise in de-cluttering, not only your belongings, but also in de-cluttering your social life.

You come to realize what a true friendship really is. For example, the people who you haven't seen for atleast half a decade who make it so easy to pick up where you left off, and make you feel like you were never away. And the new found friends who you've left behind with a teary goodbye and you just can't wait to keep learning about each other on your promised return.

Of course, the number one reason I am doing all these moves, and stomping around with a gigantic carbon footprint is LOVE.

I wanted to see where my boy came from and what he was all about... What I saw, made me not only fall even more in love with him, but I also became infatuated with his country, Sweden!

Of course New Zealand will always be my home, and I will always enjoy being a kiwi, but I reckon I can be a Kiwi-Swede... Swewi? Kwede?!...

During my previous stint in Sweden of 3 years, I came to realize that my calling in life is to make interior spaces homely with a sense of individuality, in a country very nearly dictated by the IKEA catalogue.

I have since been working in (I think) the coolest, quirkiest furniture shop in all of Welllington for the past year. While also collecting many second hand treasures spanning the past 5 decades. Sporadic matching is my ideal. If you love it, it will work!

A home should never be complete, it is an ever evolving space just as you are an ever changing person.

So, here I am with my big garage sale next weekend.
It will be bitter sweet, selling many treasured and collected things from the last year for much less than they are valued to my heart, but a great de-clutter and a huge relief that I can start again.

This is my infatuation, beautiful things and more beautiful things!
