Moody bored book

Remember when you were 13 and cut out all your favorite pictures out of your "Girlfriend" or  "Dolly" (or whatever teenybopper equivalent you had where you where) and stuck them in a journal-scrapbook thing?

I do...

Before leaving New Zealand again for the umpteenth time, I came across my teenybopper scrapbook.

I've been lugging this thing around simply because it had documented all sorts of gloriously cringe worthy late nineties fashion, modeled by all the best late nineties models.
Tucked in the pages was also a nice healthy dose of equally cringe-worthy celebrity crushes, Leonardo Dicaprio etc etc...

Also, no 13 year old scrap book would be complete without a few beauty tips like making rolled oats and strawberry face scrubs. (I much preferred to eat the stuff.)

A few tricks have stuck with me though, such as blasting your hair with cold water after shampoo and conditioning makes it really shiny! (it actually works and is lot less messy than the egg on the head thing)

Most of the satisfaction of creating this scrapbook thing was cutting out all the images, laying them all out, and figuring out the best way to get as many of a similarly themed thing on to each page as possible.

Part of the fun was also making a huge mess!

So now, as I veer towards the later half of my twenties I've rediscovered this wonderful scrappy book thing.

Except now I find myself wanting to cut out and keep together collections of furniture, interiors, colours, fabrics, textures, craftyness, and those sorts of things...

I find this to be particularly therapeutic and uplifting when I'm feeling a bit moody or bored...

Some people like to put their inspirations on a mood board, but I find a book to be slightly easier to transport around the globe.

It's interesting to discover certain colour themes that keep popping up, and even certain items that I might come across when I'm out (usually second hand) shopping - which I'm sure I've seen somewhere before... Turns out I've been idolizing it in my scrapbook!

It's sort of a personal real life blog of inspirations, where you have to actually turn pages instead of scroll through them.

The pages get a bit lumpy from the glue as the book gets fatter and fatter.

And if you want to see the rest of it, you'll just have to invite yourself over to my place for a cup of tea or a glass of wine ;)

Oh to be 15 again!

Our freshly painted bright white bedroom desperately needed SOMETHING on the walls...

As much as I admire the minimalist, all white Scandinavian style, I just need a bit more colour!!


I have ideas swirling around at the back of my head somewhere for making a headboard.
But, since I've not been working for the last... ooooh 2 and a bit months, that something needed to be majorly on the cheap side!

There's just something so romantic about real hands on photos, kind of like corked wine bottles...

So, I gathered a few of my favorite photos together of good times gone by and lovely memories (which should not be trapped away in a box somewhere at the bottom of the wardrobe any longer!) 

I figured because there seemed to be a lot of love in the photos I might as well stick them on the wall in a heart shape, even sweeter!

Speaking of sticking on the wall, I tell you that's one way to feel like a teenager again!
(I'm sure my dad will remember the whole walls of my room lost completely to photos and stuff...)

This time I used masking tape, which shouldn't ruin the photos or the wall.

Oh well, here's a little guy a found at the second hand store the other week... Sometimes he leaves little love notes for me. Well, not really. But isn't he lovely!!

Also happening on this side of the world, SPRING!

This is the first flowering tree I've seen so far, my camera wasn't fast enough to capture the pretty little butterfly resting on the flowers... so you'll just have to cope with the beauty of the blossoms alone! 

Finally, following my tradition of signing of with a Zebe photo, here she is enjoying the ever warmer sunshine on the wonderful box that my Orla Kiely bedding came in.

A little Orla Kiely bed for her too!

She does not like soft or fluffy, all she wants is a cardboard box...
